In the comments below, please answer the following question.
Where do you think the City of Lethbridge should build its next roundabout?
Contest closes 23:59 Sunday night, and the winner will be drawn randomly from the comments below.

The city should build a round-about everywhere there are currently red lights (they can leave the ones that are green).
Love it!
This year I lived in Legacy Ridge during the winter, and there are a number of roundabouts in the area. However, I found them to be somewhat dangerous for two reasons:
1. People simply don’t know how to use them; they drive when they should yield, and yield when they have the right of way.
2. In the winter they become incredibly icy, especially if the snow isn’t cleared in time, and it’s very easy to drift around the circle and lose control.
For these reasons I think putting in more traffic circles would be a mistake.
12th Ave S at 20 St. The place is a madhouse at 8am and 3pm because of Gilbert Paterson school traffic. There are often long waits to go north or south across 12th Ave.
I think most four-way stops could be replaced with roundabouts, especially mini-roundabouts. The conversion for these would be far less expensive, and since you often don’t need to actually drive around them, they’d be safer in icy conditions.
The only problem with converting existing intersections is right-of-way… for a roundabout to be safer it needs to be bigger and there isn’t much room to do that at existing intersections like 12 Ave and 20 St. I like the roundabouts in new subdivisions because at least people in that area will be more accustomed to them. As a standard transmission driver, traffic circles are great – probably why there’s so many of them in Europe.
The next roundabout should be built far away from real traffic so that drivers may use it for practice. Few people know how to use them properly.
round about are crap no more please
I hate round abouts so I say nowhere :O)
No more roundabouts.
They’re too damn small for larger traffic. People don’t yield when they’re required to. They’re terrible in the winter time. Ice builds up on the approaching lane, snow isn’t removed, visibility is impaired. Feel free to add roundabouts in new subdivisions with low traffic flow, but keep them off major routes.
All large intersections where traffic backs up should have a large traffic circle. They are not hard to get used to and keep traffic flowing smoothly rather than having long waits at lights especially during rush hours.
Coulee Creek! There also a few intersections that would benefit from roundabouts on the west side: i.e. the intersection of Garry Drive W. and Squamish Blvd. W.
no where. Due to high volumes of traffic during the week , round abouts would just create traffic havocs and increased congestion everywhere. The patient ones will yield for others but those in a rush or of no consideration of others will ignore all yield signs. Then you will have those who become confused with round abouts and will drive in circles continually until there mind is made up or they are comfortable of where to exit.
Nowhere even close to my car! I slipped on the ice while in one of the traffic circles in Legacy Ridge and had to pay a hefty sum to get my car fixed. :(
Garry Drive and Squamish Blvd West
The next roundabout should be at the intersection of mayor magrath & scenic drive
On University drive where it intersects with Riverside community.
They should tear down the ones we have! Three in a row is ridiculous! And no one know how to drive on them, They don’t signal or wait for other traffic at all. And the ones we don have don’t get plowed in time and get very dangerous. They work in Edmonton because people know how to drive. Apparently Lethbridge cannot handle that!
I agree with whoever said we should build a practice one! Once everyone learns how to properly drive in a roundabout, they would be a great addition to the city! I think out by the Northside Walmart and legacy ridge could use a roundabout where there are already 4 way stops!
They should replace all 4 way stops! If there were more of them people would know how to use them!
At Columbia and McMaster
nowhere! i hate those damn things! such a waste of space!
The city should build a round about at akward intersections. Like the T when you first are going into paradise canyon. There are quite a few weird intersections around, and the confusion of a round about would be less than the current confusion.
NO MORE ROUNDABOUTS UNTIL PEOPLE LEARN HOW TO USE THEM!!!
I think no intersections should be replaced by them.
If the city really wants to keep installing them, it should be in areas which aren’t yet developed. This would pretty much be in the new subdivisions all around the city.
I live in the sixmile area and I live close to three lakes, but there are no play grounds with in walking distance! I think its crazy that if we want to take our kids to the park we have to drive there. Therefore, I believe that the city should forget thinking about more roundabouts and focus on more playgrounds!
